Supernatural + Sons of Anarchy

These premieres can be an ordeal, no matter how good they may be. Considering the fact that I can't watch  many of them, or simply don't have a DVR capable of recording them all, I've decided to link you to a some of the shows I couldn't recap. I will try to do every premiere this week (one of my favorites of the year) but the delay between the actual airing and the blog may take a couple days.

Onto the recaps. Ken Tucker, a fabulous critic for Entertainment Weekly (aka "My Bible"), has done spoilery recaps for both Supernatural and Sons of Anarchy. I'll post what he wrote before the spoilers kick in. After that, a link will be provided if you do choose to read the recap.

Tense and tricky, the season premiere of Supernatural had a lot of action and emotion. It seems as though the series has been gone a long time, doesn’t it? Show creator Eric Kripke, who wrote the premiere, picked up right where he’d left off, with the aftermath of Sam having killed Lilith, the “final seal” that sets Lucifer loose upon the world.

SUPERNATURAL

Anyone watch the second-season premiere of Sons of Anarchy last night?

I’ll admit, I was slow to catch up with the, um, charms of this garish pulp-novel of a TV series during its first season. This time around, though, I realized: Oh, it’s supposed to be a garish pulp-novel of a TV series! Last night, creator Kurt Sutter got Sons off to a roaring start, and much of the acting is fantastic, from Charlie Hunnam’s sensitive-souled biker Jax to new bad-guy guest star Adam Arkin as a business-suited white supremicist. (Am I alone in thinking Arkin is one of the most underrated actors in television?)
